Body pulled from Des Moines River identified as missing teen

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A body found in the Des Moines River Saturday is that of a Des Moines teen who's been missing since January.

The Polk County Medical Examiner has identified the body as 18-year-old Abdullahi “Abdi” Sharif.

He was last seen January 17th at the Merle Hay Mall Target store where he worked.

The Medical Examiner says an autopsy didn't show indications of traumatic injury observed at autopsy.

They say the cause of death will be determined following complete examination of autopsy findings.
