City of Des Moines Using Federal Money to Pandemic Relief

DES MOINES, Iowa - The city of Des Moines announced late Monday that it will used federal money to help residents and businesses in need during the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic.

It says the Des Moines City Council has approved distribution of $3.3 million in emergency federal money to support at-risk residents and small businesses in the city.

The city says the funds will be used for emergency food, rental and mortgage payment assistance, small business relief, and support for emergency shelters and people who've become homeless.

Without being specific, the city says applications for assistance will launch later this week.
