Iowa has single-day high for COVID-19 deaths, cases now exceed 10,000

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa has another single-day high number for COVID-19 coronavirus deaths.

The Iowa Department of Public Health says 19 more people have died from complications of the virus, bringing the state's total to 207.

The state also says there are 408 new coronavirus cases as of Tuesday, pushing the state's total to 10,111 cases.

IDPH says 80 percent of those new cases come from the 22 Iowa counties hit hardest by coronavirus--261 new cases are in Polk and Woodbury counties.

As of Tuesday, 407 people are hospitalized with the virus..

So far, 3,572 people have recovered from the virus, putting the recovery rate 35 percent.
