DES MOINES, Iowa - Gov. Reynolds is traveling to Washington, D.C. Wednesday, where she says she'll meet with President Donald Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
The governor says she's going to update the President on the status of COVID-19 in Iowa, including the state's efforts to reopen.
The President has been encouraging states to loosen coronavirus restrictions in recent days. Reynolds follows numerous other governors who have traveled to the White House to discuss virus fighting efforts with President Trump.
Bloomberg News is reporting that Vice President Mike Pence said, "officials are watching the Chicago and Des Moines areas closely" while stating that not every U.S. community is “out of the woods yet,” with the virus.
Pence will be in Des Moines on Friday to encourage faith leaders to reopen religious services under social distancing guidelines.
He will also hold a round table at Hy-Vee's headquarters to discuss agriculture and the country's food supply chain.
Governor Reynolds will not hold her normal daily news conference on COVID-19 Wednesday.
