Iowa's COVID-19 coronavirus cases pass 11,000

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa's total number of positive COVID-19 coronavirus cases have gone past 11,000.

The Department of Public Health said Thursday there were 655 new cases, bringing the state's total to 11,059.

The department says 12 more people have died from complications of the virus, putting the state's death toll to 231.

Currently, 417 people are hospitalized with the virus. Of those, 151 are in Intensive Care Units.

Of all the people who've tested positive, 4,266--about 39-percent--have recovered.

More than 66,000 people in Iowa have been tested for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
