State to ramp Up "TestIowa" Program After Validation

JOHNSTON, Iowa - Governor Kim Reynolds says "TestIowa" will be ramped up now that the State Hygienic Lab has finished a standard review of the program.

She said it achieved 95 percent accuracy in determining positive tests and 99.7 percent accuracy for negative tests.

Reynolds said she's expecting more tests to be processed more quickly and results to be delivered on a timely basis now that the validation process is completed.

She's touted the TestIowa program as being able to perform 3,000 tests per day. Along with 2,000 tests conducted by the State Hygenic Lab, Reynolds says the state should now reach her goal of 5,000 tests oer day

The state is also setting up a TestIowa call center where staff can answer questions and help resolve issues.

Reynolds says TestIowa has completed more than 400,000 assessments and announced more tha 4,000 test results.

The state has Test Iowa drive-thru locations in Des Moines, Sioux City, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Denison, Davenport, and Ottumwa. Another one opens Saturday in Storm Lake. Officials say a Test Iowa call-center is also planned.
