URBANDALE, Iowa - Urbandale is cancelling all its Fourth of July events except for its Fireworks show. The city bills itself as having one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the area.
It typically has a street dance, carnival rides, a two-mile parade, a 5-K run and fireworks shot off from Walker Johnston Park.
The city says health and safety concerns as well as the ability to put on a successful event with COVID-19 crowd restrictions played a role in its decision.
Urbandale's 4th of July committee will be selling special 2020 commemorative buttons and taking donations to fund the Fireworks show.
