Des Moines Man Jailed After 2 Dead Dogs Found in His Apartment

DES MINES, Iowa - A Des Moines man is facing two animal neglect charges after two dogs were found dead in his apartment.

Twenty-one year-old David Goodburn is in the Polk County Jail. He had adopted the dogs from the Animal Rescue League. Animal Rescue Services was called to his apartment Monday and located the deceased dogs.

Goodburn is accused of abandoning the dogs and leaving them trapped in the apartment, leading to their deaths.

He's been charged with two counts of animal neglect, with “willful intent.” The Des Moines Police Department is investigating the matter.
