JOHNSTON, Iowa -- If you've got outdoor plans during the Memorial Day weekend, you might want to take an umbrella.
"Certainly by the evening hours Friday much of the central part of the state's going to be under some sort of thunderstorm activity. It looks like it will continue through the overnight hours into the early part of Saturday" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Kenny Podrazik.
He says our best chance for some sun will be Saturday afternoon.
"Most of the cloud cover and storms move out on Saturday afternoon. Looks like we get up to the upper 70's to lower 80's for high temperatures" Podrazik says.
He says spotty showers and thunderstorms come back in the forecast Sunday through Monday.
Podrazik says we hold on to those rain chances through the early part of next week.
