Johnston, Iowa - The National Weather Service in Des Moines is advising residents of possible severe weather Tuesday afternoon.
Large Hail, Damaging Wind Gusts, and a Few Tornadoes are possible in North Central Iowa, mainly along and north of U.S. Hwy. 30.
The time frame for the possible severe weather is 3-10 PM, and storms may continue later into the evening.
Damage to vehicles, home siding, and roofs is possible from large hail and wind gusts of more than 60 MPH. Lightning could also pose a threat peopleo utdoors.
Hail is the most likely threat. High winds could occur later in the evening. The threat of tornado threat will depend om whether supercell thunderstorms develop.
The time period from the end of May until mid-June is the peak of severe weather season for much of Iowa.
