330 New COVID-19 Cases in Iowa, 4 Additional Deaths

DES MOINES, Iowa - The state is reporting 330 new cases of COVID-19, along with 4 additional deaths as of 10 a.m. Monday.

A total of 606 people in Iowa have died from the virus and 21,919 have tested positive for the virus out of 192,950 tests overall.

The state reports 5,016 people were tested Sunday. A high mark of nearly 7,000 people were tested last Thursday. Governor Kim Reynolds has set a goal of 5,000 tests per day between the TestIowa program and the state hygienic lab.

Buena Vista County continues to show the biggest concentration of COVID-19 cases based on population, and that number continues to rapidly grow.

Buena Vista County now has 5,958 cases per 100,000 residents. By comparison, Crawford County has the second highest concentration per 100,000 - 3,345. Polk, the largest population county in the state, has 985 cases per 100,000.

The state has conducted 23,030 Serology tests to find anti-bodies in people who have contracted and recovered for COVID-19. There have been 1,972 positive Serology tests, accounting for 9 percent of those tests.

There have been 12,844 recoveries from the virus for a recovery rate of 59 percent.

The state is reporting COVID-19 outbreaks at 40 long term care centers. Deaths of patients from those centers total 304, accounting for 50 percent of the state's deaths.

Overall, COVID-19 case counts have flattened since May 6th, and are slowly tapering off.

The numbers for the state only represent COVID-19 figures compiled by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Unreported cases and deaths could make the actual figures different.
