DES MOINES, Iowa - The Polk County Health Department is promoting the continued use of COVID-19 safety measures as the state reopens.
The department says the first wave of the virus is not done. “We are not through a first wave at all, and what I mean by that is, this is still cases, we are… we haven’t seen a stop in cases. So, we still confirm cases, we still see hospitalizations, we still see deaths, that just means that the first wave is not done,” Polk County Health Department Public Information Officer Nola Aigner Davis told WHO-TV.
The county health departments Facebook page is filled with reminders to use COVID-19 safety practices such as social distancing, wearing a mask and frequently washing hands.
Governor Kim Reynolds most recent proclamation that reopened businesses without capacity restrictions also requires continued compliance with social distancing and hygiene guidelines, at least until June 25th.
