Guthrie Center Fire Damages Downtown Buildings

GUTHRIE CENTER, Iowa - A large fire overnight damaged numerous buildings in downtown Guthrie Center.

Raccoon Valley Radio reported it broke out at about 10 pm Wednesday night in an apartment above a clothing store. Flames and smoke then spread to several other businesses.

Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management reports eight different emergency agencies were on the scene for the fire which took four hours to put out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
