CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Cedar Rapids native and PGA Tour golfer Zach Johnson has announced the cancellation of this year's Zach Johnson Foundation Classic golf tournament due to concerns about spreading COVID-19.
The charity tournament was originally scheduled for July 27th in Cedar Rapids.
Despite the cancellation of the tournament, the Foundation recently held a virtual gala that raised over $180,000.00 for Kids on Course, a program serving students in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.
The Foundation says the cancellation of the tournament will lead to a significant drop in revenue, but its board of directors and staff are working on additional ways to raise money to make up for lost revenue.
