West Des Moines Schools To Hold Virtual Meetings With Public Invited

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The West Des Moines Community Schools' Board of Education will hold two virtual meetings on Monday: a workshop at 5:15 p.m. followed by a regular business meeting.

The public is invited to take part and make comments during the online presentations on Zoom.

The district released its Return to Learn plan last week, which includes three options.

Students can attend school online, on-site in physical classrooms or choose a combination of both. They'll also be able to make a choice between the options every semester.

The district say its might restrict on-site classes at any point over safety concerns for students and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A survey of parents showed nearly half - 48 percent - prefer to send their kids to physical classrooms full-time.

The district says it'll have enhanced health and safety measures in place for on-site learning. West Des Moines Schools will start classes August 26th.
