Potential For Severe Weather Tuesday in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa The National Weather service says there'a a chance for severe weather Tuesday afternoon into the overnight hours.

Forecasters says there's now a high level of confidence there'll be severe weather in Iowa fro these storms, and there'll likely be heavy rainfall, up to three-inches or more, in some areas.

The impacted area includes northeast Iowa into central and southern Iowa Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. The risk may linger over southern Iowa Wednesday.

The main severe threat will occur from 3 PM through 11 PM Tuesday, but storms may linger through the overnight hours.

Large hail, damaging wind and heavy rainfall are the main threats. Secondary threat with these thunderstorms is brief tornadoes.
