Stifling Heat Predicted For Weekend in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa - The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the hours of 1 pm until 8 pm Saturday for all of Central Iowa.

The agency issued a statewide report Friday with the headline "Stifling Heat and Humidity Today (Friday) into Sunday."

The report says peak heat is expected Saturday with heat indices of 105°F to 110°F are likely.

It says there'll be little relief with overnight lows remaining in the lower to middle 70's.

If there's any relief, the report says thunderstorms chances in Iowa late Saturday night into Sunday may lead to slightly cooler temperatures on Sunday in some locations.

High temperatures Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be in the low to mid 90's.
