Urbandale postpones summer clean-up event to September

URBANDALE, Iowa- The City of Urbandale is postponing it's a summer Clean-Up event to September 21st. The event was previously postponed from the spring to later this month.

The event will be held on residents' normal collection day, and there will be a modified curbside clean-up along with opportunities to drop off items on Saturday, August 1st, and Saturday, August 8th at the Metro Waste Authority transfer station in Grimes (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Residents can also dispose of household hazardous waste free-of-charge at the MWA transfer site on August 8th.

The city says the decision was made due to the fact that employees need to wear personal protective equipment while collecting debris, and the weather in September should be more comfortable.

The city is also encouraging residents to put smaller items into tied trash bags and try not to overload bags, and to not set out items early. Items should be in place by 6 a.m. on a resident's normal collection day, or the night before.
