DES MOINES, Iowa - There are three new deaths from COVID-19 in Iowa and 376 additional positive cases of the virus as of Monday at 10 a.m.
There are 42,485 total cases, as 5,198 tests were conducted Sunday. The positive test rate is currently 7.2 percent.
There have been a total of 829 deaths statewide. Daily reported deaths and hospitalizations have generally been falling over the past several weeks, with daily totals in single-digits.
Iowa officials have acknowledged a rise in cases among adults age 18-40.
A total of 455,740 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Iowa, and one-in-seven Iowans has been tested.
There have been 29,729 recoveries from the virus in the state. Governor Reynolds announced several weeks ago that the metrics for determining recoveries was changed. Because of the change, the recovery rate jumped from 62 percent to roughly 80 percent .
The state is reporting COVID-19 outbreaks at 22 long term care centers Monday, equal to the number reported the day before. Long term care outbreaks have started to climb recently after sharply dropping from as much as 36 earlier this year. There have been 448 long term care center deaths, accounting for 53 percent of the state total.
There are 241 hospitalizations from the virus. There are 78 ICU patients with 32 on ventilators.
