PELLA, Iowa - Two contract workers are dead from a construction accident while installing internet lines in Pella, Iowa.
Police say 35-year-old Genis Urgell Rueda and 20-year-old Nelson Joani Figueroa, both of Richmond, Virginia, died in the mishap.
The two were part of a crew from Missouri based Excel Utility Contractors that was laying internet cables when it struck an underground, high-voltage electrical cable Saturday morning. Nearby residents reported hearing a loud boom at the time.
A third worker suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Residents in the area were evacuated for about an hour.
