Cedar Rapids Issues Debris Removal Guidelines

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The city of Cedar Rapids is issuing guidelines to residents about tree damage pickup procedures and updates on trash pickup. The city says contractors, city workers, and Iowa Department of Transportation crews will start collecting debris on Wednesday.

Residents should put their tree debris in the public right-of-way area between the street and the sidewalk in front of their property. The city says the debris collection will take a while, but workers will be taking as much from each property as they can. Residents can expect to see workers making multiple trips to neighborhoods as needed.

City officials say tree debris should be in separate piles from structural debris such as shingles and gutters. If possible, tree limbs should be cut into 10 foot sections, if possible.

Garage collection will resume in Cedar Rapids on Thursday.

The curfew between 10pm and 6am is still in effect until further notice, with residents still allowed to travel to work and back during curfew hours.

Additional information is available on the city's website.
