DES MOINES, Iowa - The Wellmark YMCA in downtown Des Moines is reaching out to local residents who are still without power from Monday's powerful derecho storm.
The Y's offering free use of its family changing rooms for showering and cleaning up. It also has electrical outlets for cell phone and lap-top charging.
Those taking advantage of the downtown Y's facilities are being asked to bring their own towels and toiletries. Masks are also required.
The offer is open to anyone in the community, member or non-member, who is without power at home.
The Wellmak YMCA's hours are 5 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday, and 7 am through 2 pm Saturday.
