POWESHEIK COUNTY, Iowa - Two residents of Poweshiek County were killed as a result of Monday's severe derecho storm, according the the local sheriff's department.
According to a news release, a 41 year-old Malcom woman was killed by falling debris as the storm swept through the area. She was rushed by air to a Des Moines hospital but died of her injuries a short time later.
A 42 year-old municipal utility worker was also killed in the storm. The Sheriff's Office says the Brooklyn man was electrocuted by a downed power line while making repairs and removing debris.
Neither victim's name is being released at this time.
