DES MOINES, Iowa -- The weather's going to be hot all across the state of Iowa for most of the week.
"We're seeing highs, especially Monday and Tuesday jumping into the mid- and upper-90's. A couple of really unlucky spots may touch 100 degrees early this week" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Allan Curtis.
He says the heat won't be totally oppressive.
"We're not looking at oppressive dew points. It is going to be really hot outside, but we're not looking at a true steam room--so to speak" Curtis says
He says there could be a break in the heat--and maybe some rain--be week's end.
"We do see cooler weather coming in by the end of the week--and some chances for rain. Hot and dry to start, but some relief is on the horizon" Curtis says.
Through this week's heat wave, the National Weather Service says it will be a good idea to avoid the hottest part of the day, limit outdoor activities, and drink plenty of water.
