Storm Debris Cleanup Continues in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa - Curbside collection of storm debris continues today in Des Moines.

It'll take several more weeks for all the debris from this month's derecho storm to be picked up.

Residents can track where work has been done through interactive maps on the Des Moines city website.

Monday marks three weeks since the storm brought straight line winds of up to 140 miles per hour to parts of Iowa. Sustained winds of 80 mile per hour hot the Des Moines metro area.

Work continues to cleanup storm debris in Des Moines city parks. The parks won't be completely back to normal until next Spring, because large down trees won't be picked up until the ground freezes this winter.
