Ames City Council To Consider Mask Order

AMES, Iowa - The Ames City Council will consider a citywide mask order at a special meeting Tuesday.

The proposal comes after a New York Times report named Ames as having the worst outbreak of COVID-19 in the country over the weekend.

The City Council needs to conduct three readings of the mask proposal for it to go into effect. It could hold all three readings at its Tuesday meeting.

Governor Reynolds has continually refused to issue a statewide mask order, and the attorney general's office says cities and counties can't legally impose their own orders.
