Reynolds Signs Document for Constitutional Convention Question on Ballot

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowans will be asked if they want to change the state constitution when they vote in November.

Governor Kim Reynolds has signed documents to have ballots include a question on whether voters want to convene a constitutional convention for that purpose.

The question appears on the Iowa ballot every 10 years, which is required by the state constitution. Its been in the constitution since it was drafted in 1857.

Fourteen states have questions on whether to hold a constitutional convention automatically placed on the ballot. The last time a constitutional convention was held was in 1986 in Rhode Island.
