DES MOINES, Iowa - A Des Moines man is charged 1st degree murder of his wife.
Police found the the body of 50-year-old Des Moines resident Connie Lynette Simmons Friday afternoon
Simmons was in a wooded area of a residence in the 2100 block of 23rd Street north of Drake University.
32-year-old Des Moines resident Datron Armondo Simmons Sr. is charged with 1st Degree Murder in her death.
Officers were first requested to assist family with checking on an adult female with existing health issues.
They were then called back to the same residence to investigate a report of a body being located. They arrived and confirmed the death.
It's the 17th homicide in Des Moines this year.
