Polk County Health Department Urging Public to get Flu Shot Quickly

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Polk County Health Department is urging anyone older than 6 months to get a flu shot quickly.

The department says it has "no idea" what the flu season will look like, but notes that it's possible to get the flu and COVID-19 at the same time.

In a statemen, the department said it can only follow public health mitigation strategies to fight COVID-19, but can protect against the flu with the annual shot.

Starting next Monday, Polk County Health is hosting a drive-up flu clinic in its west parking lot. The drive-up location will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
