MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - Marshalltown Police say a West Des Moines man is facing charges in a fraudulent insurance scam.
Police say they received reports on Monday about a man trying to collect $1,000 deductible payments, saying he worked for an insurance company. Police say he was successful in getting some community members to make the fraudulent payments.
Police received a tip about an upcoming arranged meeting, conducted surveillance on the meeting, and arrested 33 year-old Oscar Sanchez at the scene.
Sanchez is facing 3rd degree theft charges. Police say they suspect there are more victims in the community.
