More Than 570,000 Absentee Ballots Requested in Iowa for November Election

DES MOINES, Iowa - Secretary of State Paul Pate says more than 570,000 Iowans have requested absentee ballots for the upcoming election.

The number represents more than a third of the total votes cast in the entire 2016 election.

Pate's announcement comes after he sent absentee ballot request forms to every voter for this election.

County auditors begin mailing ballots in just over a week (October 5th).

June's primary set a record for absentee voting in Iowa.

November's election is expected to heavy mail-in voting nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic.
