Des Moines Central Library Opening for Limited Services Monday

DES MOINEA, Iowa - Des Moines' Central Library is opening up for limited browsing and some in-person services starting today.

The hours are from 12-to- 4 Monday through Saturday.

The new phase of reopening is called "DMPL Express", with a goal of offering services in a way that moves people in and out as quickly and safely as possible.

Public computers and the Central pickup window will continue with regular full-time hours, as well.

Five other Des Moines Library branches - East Side, Forest, Franklin, North Side, and South Side - will re-open Tuesday, September 13th.

East Side, Forest, North Side, and South Side Libraries:

DMPL Express Service will take place for 4-6 hours each day (except Sunday) in the afternoon and evening. Services include:

  • Limited browsing
  • Holds pickup
  • Public computer use
  • WiFi Access
  • Printing, faxing, and copying services

At the Franklin Avenue Library

  • Curbside Pickup service continues as it is currently.
  • No browsing or public computers.
  • Study rooms may be reserved for 45-minute blocks.
