Webster County Jail Reports COVID-19 Outbreak

FORT DODGE, Iowa - The Webster County Jail is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 among both inmates and staff after 15 people have tested positive.

The jail identified its first positive COVID-19 case last week in an inmate, and then tested all 68 inmates and staff members.

The jail says it's isolating positive cases and requiring masks.

Since the pandemic began, more than 1,000 inmates in Iowa prisons have tested positive. There are currently 7,415 Iowans incarcerated in the Iowa prison system, not including county jails
