DES MOINES, Iowa - Transportation Security Administration officers at the Des Moines International Airport say they found a man trying to board a plane with a loaded gun in his carry on bag over the weekend.
TSA officers called police after discovering the loaded pistol. Police confiscated the gun and issued a citation to the passenger, a resident of Guam.
The TSA says travelers are allowed to travel with firearms, but they have to be unloaded, locked in a hard case, and declared in advance, at which time they will be stored in the plane's cargo area and remain inaccessible during the flight.
