(Linn County, IA) -- Two people are dead and a third is hospitalized after a wreck near Cedar Rapids. The Linn County Sheriff's Office tells KCRG-TV it appears a southbound grain truck collided with two north bound vehicles on Covington Road, northwest of Cedar Rapids. The two smaller vehicles went into a ditch. The drivers of both of those vehicles died at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office says passersby rescue the truck-driver from his cab, just before the truck caught fire.
The truck driver was flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His injuries are described as severe. No names have been released yet.
