Ottumwa man accused of Child Stealing

(Ottumwa, IA) -- An Ottumwa man's accused of trying to abduct a young child. Police were called to a residence in the 1500 block of Albia yesterday (Monday) because of a burglary. While there, officers were told by dispatch that a toddler had been taken from the residence.

Thirty-five-year old Joseph Michael Agan and the child were found at the Southern Iowa Mental Health Center. Police say Agan resisted arrest and assaulted officers. He's been booked into the Wapello County Jail (with no bond).

Agan is facing multiple charges including: Child Stealing, 3rd Degree Burglary, Interference with Official Acts, and Assault on a Peace Officer.
