Microsoft to Spend Billions on Two New West Des Moines Data Centers

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Microsoft plans to build two new data centers in West Des Moines.

The Des Moines Business Record reports the new centers could expand West Des Moines’ tax base by more than $500 million, and would increase Microsoft's investment in the city by several billion dollars ($3 billion to $5 billion total).

The new data centers will be the fourth and fifth constructed by the tech giant in West Des Moines.

Construction of the projects is expected to begin in about a year (September 2021).
