VAN METER, Iowa - A school teacher and coach in Van Meter faces assault charges after teenagers attempted to toilet paper his house.
Joel Bartz is accused of pulling a teenage victim down, hitting him in the head and back, and tearing the victim's shirt.
Bartz was arrested this week on charges of assault and fifth-degree criminal mischief.
The Perry News reports the confrontation occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, when Bartz allegedly “stopped a truck with students who were going to toilet paper his home because he is a coach and teacher.”
the Van Meter district lists Bartz as a middle school science teacher.
