Des Moines Bucs Hockey to open season at Wells Fargo Arena

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Buccaneers season opener will be November 5th at Wells Fargo. The August derecho damaged the Buc's home arena on Hickman Avenue.

Des Moines Buccaneers President Nate Tuet says the derecho not only peeled off 80-percent of the arena roof, there was significant water damage in the building. He says repairs are underway, and they hope to return to the arena by early next year.

At Wells Fargo Arena, staff are working on installing the ice, and working on COVID-19 protocols.

“2020 has been an unprecedented year with the COVID-19 pandemic and the damage sustained to our home ice at Buccaneer Arena due to the storm in August,” said Des Moines Buccaneers President Nate Teut. “We are grateful to Wells Fargo Arena, the Iowa Wild, and the greater hockey community for coming together to help make this upcoming Buccaneer season possible.”

Season tickets are on sale now by visiting or by calling the Buccaneer Box Office at 515-278-2827. Single game tickets will be available soon as the Bucs and Spectra work together to finalize pod seating configurations at Wells Fargo Arena.
