Baby Girl in State Custody Under Iowa's Safe Haven Law

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Human Services says a baby girl is in its custody under Iowa's Safe Haven law.

That law allows parents to leave babies 30 days or younger at health care facilities without fear of prosecution.

Children who are surrendered under the law are placed with foster or adoptive families. This is Iowa's 46th Safe Haven baby.
