DES MOINES, Iowa - More than a quarter of active Iowa voters (571,000) have returned absentee ballots for November's election.
Democrats lead Republicans by a 53-to-39 percent margin in those ballots.
The last day to request an absentee ballot is this Saturday
The pace of early voting this year is far ahead of previous records.
There's concern in some states that the high number of mail-in votes will lead to a delay in reporting election results.
County auditors in Iowa will be able begin opening outer envelopes of absentee ballots the Friday before the November 3rd election, causing less concern over any delay in election results.
