Des Moines Winter Farmer's Market to be drive-thru event

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Downtown Des Moines Winter Farmer's Market, will be a drive-thru event this year because of the pandemic.

The event will be November 21st at the Principal Park parking lot, from 9-to-2. Organizers say they're expecting 30-vendors, selling late-season produce and gift items. Other items expected meat, cheese, wine, artisan foods, pies, pastries, bread, honey, jam, salsa and more.

Vendors will be set up along the perimeter of the parking lot at Principal Park. Customers can either pre-order items online and attend The Drive-Through Winter Market to pick them up, or may shop in-person from their vehicles. This alternative market layout will allow customers to connect and purchase from vendors who would typically be at the indoor Winter Market.

“We are excited to continue the popular Winter Market with a new look for 2020 to provide a safe way for customers to support local small businesses,” said Kelly Foss, Director of the Downtown Farmers’ Market. “This creative solution will provide an option for people in our community to embrace winter and support local, while still adhering to social distancing.”
