CARROL, Iowa - As the final presidential debate took place Thursday night, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says the state is preparing for any election night disruptions.

Reynolds told the Carroll Times Herald that she's held planning discussions on a response to potential election-related violence in the state.

She says she's spoken with the head of the Iowa National Guard, Maj. Gen. Benjamin J. Corell, about possible violence resulting from the current national political environment.

Reynolds was not specific about ant special measures being taken.

The governor made the comments to the Times Herald following a campaign stop for Senator Joni Ernst and President Trump in downtown Carroll Thursday.
