(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids and Marion Police took a man into custody today, accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend. Police say a man reported another guy broke into his home at 1009 Center Point Road NE at 6 o'clock this morning and took a 20-year old woman, -the suspect's ex-girlfriend. She was found hours later at her home, injured but safe. The suspect was arrested this afternoon after a short vehicle and foot chase in Marion. He was taken into custody behind the U.S. Post Office at 3800 US-151 in Marion. Twenty-six-year old Nicholas Hallman is facing Kidnapping, Burglary, Domestic Assault Abuse with Injury, Going Armed with Intent, Intimidation with a Weapon, Carrying Weapons, and Assault While Participating in a Felony.
Hallman will face more charges by the Marion Police Department regarding the vehicle and foot pursuit that ensued when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop of the suspect’s vehicle in Marion.
Police say the man who called 911 said he had been shot. Police found a spent shell casing and damage to the ceiling from a discharged round, but the man who called was not injured.
