Downtown Iowa City Reopened After Suspicious Package Investigated

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The scare from a suspicious package in Iowa City is over after a bomb squad investigation.

University of Iowa Police called off an alert Wednesday evening that led to the closure of City Hall and a number of downtown streets.

The Press-Citizen reports a suspicious package was left in the Iowa City Police Department lobby.

The Johnson County Bomb Squad and several K-9 officers investigated before the city said there was no immediate threat and the situation had been resolved.
