Firefighters Monitoring Storm Debris Fire at Cedar Rapids Ball Park Complex

CEDAR RAPIS, Iowa - Cedar Rapids Firefighters are monitoring a pile of storm debris that caught fire early this morning near the Tait Cummins Ball Park Complex..

Crews worked to wet down the edge of the fire surrounded by dry grass to contain the fire to the pile itself.

The fire did not reach the Ball Park Complex.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department says the pile will be burning and releasing smoke for several days.

No damage has occurred to the park or its ball fields. The fire is contained to the tree pile itself and is not threatening any structures or other property.

Cedar Rapids Firefighters will be will be surveying the area as it continues to burn.
