IOWA - The board that oversees Iowa's three state universities will keep a tuition freeze in place for the spring semester.
The Board of Regents is extending the freeze it put in place this fall over COVID-19 concerns.
But it plans to resume a five-year plan that includes tuition hikes next fall in 2021.
All three schools have expressed a need to raise tuition because of the pandemic and funding reductions from the state legislature.
The three state universities are the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.
The freeze leaves in place resident undergraduate yearly tuition at $8,073 for the University of Iowa, $, $8,042 for Iowa State University and $7,665 for the University of Northern Iowa. The figures do not include mandatory fees.
