Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center Needs Donations

OTTUMWA, Iowa -- The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is in need of blood and plasma donations before the holidays.

According to its website, the MVRBC says its running out of type O red blood cells, type A-B plasma and convalescent plasma.

Convalescent plasma is the blood-plasma taken from recovered COVID-19 patients. The plasma contains antibodies that act in a treatment that's been attributed to saving the lives of other patients.

The MVRBC isn't accepting walk-ins and appointments can be made online.
