DES MOINES, Iowa - Friday is the last day to apply for COVID-19 assistance for rent and mortgage payments in Iowa.
Governor Kim Reynolds has directed federal CARES Act money to help people who've suffered income loss during the pandemic and may be facing housing hardships.
Those receiving rental assistance can receive up to $3200 and those receiving mortgage assistance can get up to $3600.
The state has until the end of the month to use its remaining $82 million in CARES Act money.
Governor Reynolds has indicated she'll direct those funds to help small businesses stay afloat.
But this week she also called on Congress to pass another round of COVID economic stimulus money.
Currently, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators has a $908 billion measure on the table that includes more funding for the Paycheck Protection Program.
