CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Cedar Rapids Community School District is holding in-person classes once again.
The district's returned to its hybrid learning model which calls for a combination of face-to-face and online classes. It had been holding all virtual instruction since late November.
All elementary schools as well as three high schools and a middle school in Cedar Rapids are holding in-person classes today. Students at Polk, Metro High School and Harding, Roosevelt and Wilson Middle Schools are returning return to the classroom.
Jefferson and Washington High Schools as well as Franklin and McKinley Middle Schools were damaged by the August. Classes at those school will start Wednesday.
All high school athletics and activities were allowed to resume on Saturday.
The district has also adopted undated standards released by the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that shortens COVID-19 quarantine recommendations from 14 days to 10 days if the person shows no symptoms after coming into contact with someone who has the virus.
